PATA Nepal Chapter Wins PATA Award of Excellence 2026

Kathmandu, August 17 

PATA Nepal Chapter has been named winner of the PATA Award of Excellence, presented by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA HQ) at the PATA Chapter and Student Chapter Awards Ceremony held on Monday at Commons Café, Old Court House, Kuching, a day ahead of PATA Travel Mart 2026 in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.

The PATA Award of Excellence is presented annually to PATA Chapters and Student Chapters whose activities over the preceding year best exemplify dedication to the development of the travel and tourism industry within the Pacific Asia region, in line with PATA's aims and objectives.

Mr. Bibhuti Chand Thakur, Immediate Past Chairman of PATA Nepal Chapter, received the award on behalf of the association. Expressing gratitude to PATA HQ for the recognition, he credited the Chapter's Executive Committee and Secretariat team, led by its proactive CEO, for the milestones and achievements the Chapter has made over the years.

Mr. Suresh Singh Budal, CEO of PATA Nepal Chapter, called it a proud moment for both the Chapter and Nepal to be recognized once again with the prestigious award. He said PATA Nepal Chapter has consistently demonstrated excellence in its advocacy and engagement roles, positioning itself as one of the most active PATA Chapters worldwide. He added that the recognition is a source of pride and motivation, inspiring the Chapter to intensify its continued collaboration toward sustainable and responsible tourism development in Nepal and beyond.

PATA Nepal Chapter is one of the independent PATA Chapters worldwide, established in 1975 in line with the spirit of PATA HQ. It has since grown into the only full-fledged tourism association in Nepal, bringing together nearly all stakeholders of Nepali tourism from both public and private sectors, with an advocacy and engagement role in the sustainable development of the travel and tourism industry in Nepal and beyond.
